The body of the 54-year-old man was found on Saturday followingnoon in the freezer of his home along the Izegemsestraat in Sint-Eloois-Winkel, confirmed to our colleagues from HLN the mayor of Ledegem, Bart Dochy. It was neighbors who alerted the police following several days without seeing him.
The cause of death is, at this time, undetermined. The prosecution has announced that it has opened an investigation, although the hypothesis of an act of desperation is not overlooked. The man was already known to justice for drug-related offenses.
An autopsy will be performed later this week which may provide more clarity on the exact cause of death.
