53 athletes represent the UAE in the Islamic Solidarity Games

The UAE is participating in the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held until August 18, in Konya, Turkey, with 53 male and female athletes competing in 9 different individual sports.

The nine games in which the UAE will participate include archery, bow and arrow, bow and arrow for people of determination, karate, judo, taekwondo, fencing, weightlifting, swimming, and bicycles.

The National Olympic Committee approved the nomination of Brigadier General Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, member of the Executive Office of the Committee, as head of the UAE delegation to the session, and Butti Ahmed Al-Abdouli, Director of Sports Federation Affairs in the Committee, was named as the head of the delegation.

Our national cycling team will start its journey in the event on Friday, August 5th, with track competitions. The team also participates in road competitions. The team includes 9 riders, including 6 men: Youssef Mirza, Ahmed Al-Mansoori, Jaber Al-Mansoori, Khaled Al-Mayouf, Saif Al-Kaabi, and Walid Al-Naqbi. The delegation of our women’s team includes Safia Al Sayegh, Sheikha Issa, and Zahra Hussein.

For his part, Brigadier General Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi stressed the importance of achieving the gains and goals that we remind ourselves of with each forum and participation at various levels and levels, and to complete the achievements, successes and results of the UAE sport, whether in the past editions of the course or in all the sports benefits in which it is held. Our children are responsible for representing the state.

He added: We seek to convey many messages, not only by focusing on results and colored medals; Rather, it is in contrast to the bright image of the homeland, the unique position and the good reputation with which the UAE was known to the world.

Al Zeyoudi pointed out that the participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games comes following the success of the sports delegations of the UAE in achieving distinguished results during the merits that were held this year at the Gulf level in the third Gulf Games that were held in the sisterly State of Kuwait last May, as well as the World Games in the American city of Birmingham. which ended last July.
