The number of agroforestry fires that broke out in the last twenty-four hours across the country reached 52. Of these, according to the Fire Department, 42 were dealt with immediately, in their initial stage, while the fire brigade is dealing with another 10.
The fire that broke out in low vegetation in Neoktista Aspropyrgos was brought under partial control. According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out around 3:15 p.m. and 30 firefighters with 12 vehicles and a helicopter were mobilized to extinguish it. Contribution was provided by local water bodies.
Local investigative offices, as well as Divisions of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.
Finally, the Fire Department calls on all citizens to be especially careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to faithfully follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
