500,000 euros for a parking space on a commercial street in the city!

A parking space near the famous Vodelpark, Amsterdam’s largest green lung, is being sold for a price that has caused a sensation in the Netherlands, where prices have soared due to the housing crisis.

In particular, it is offered for sale for 495,000 euros on the website Funda, which specializes in real estate ads. It is the most expensive parking lot in the Netherlands, according to RTL.

The specific position is 4.65m. by 3.85m, a total of 18 square meters. It is located in a gated parking complex, “on Holland’s most famous and luxurious shopping street”, the PC Hooftstraat, a stone’s throw from the national museum (Rijksmuseum) and the Van Gogh Museum.

In fact, it is alternatively available for rent for 750 euros per month.

The sale price of this particular parking space is higher than the average house in the Netherlands – around 430,000 euros, according to a report published at the end of 2023.

The RTL report points out that parking spaces are scarce in the center of most Dutch cities, not just Amsterdam. “They are becoming rarer and rarer, so their value is increasing. But of course such a place cannot be worth half a million euros”, it is underlined.

Everyone of course sells as much as they want, “it just depends on whether someone is crazy enough to pay that amount,” concludes the RTL report.
