50,000 euros in damage: youth gang caught after a series of burglaries

According to Wednesday’s broadcast, the asylum seekers from Algeria and Morocco are said to have primarily targeted pharmacies and stolen cash. Three suspects were arrested in Switzerland and Germany and taken to the Wiener Neustadt prison. Two accomplices are still being sought.

Crime scene also in Wels

The crime scenes of the 19 burglaries were in Vienna-Penzing, in several districts of Lower Austria, in Salzburg, Wels and Innsbruck. During the coups, sliding doors were forced open and cash was stolen from change cash registers. The damage was estimated at around 50,000 euros, of which the stolen goods accounted for around 9,000 euros. On the basis of European arrest warrants, two suspects were caught in Switzerland and one in Germany and extradited to Austria.

Searches are underway

According to the broadcast, the young people confessed fully. “The whereabouts of the two remaining accused are currently unknown, searches are ongoing at home and abroad,” said the Lower Austria State Police Directorate.
