Thousands demonstrate in the inner city once morest racist and right-wing agitation by the FPÖ and ÖVP!

Vienna (OTS) – The torchlight procession of the Socialist Youth Vienna was once once more a complete success. On Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. thousands of people, including many young people, gathered in front of the opera. This year’s torchlight procession had the motto: “Vienna once morest the right!”

“In recent months, the deportation fantasies of right-wing extremists have become increasingly clear: all people who are not Austrian enough for them must go – regardless of whether they have citizenship or not. So often during our actions in front of schools we met young people who asked us: Do they actually want to deport me too? Such a simple question that shows how bad times are at the moment, that young people have to worry regarding these things and not, for example, the next math school test. We say clearly that the only thing that has no right to exist is the politics of the FPÖ with its disgusting racism. People like us have a place here – right-wing extremism certainly doesn’t!,” says chairwoman of the Socialist Youth Vienna, Rihab Toumi, at the final rally on Rathausplatz.

“Our resistance is extremely important. We see how the right-wing extremists are becoming stronger all over Europe and how, over the past year, the FPÖ has been gaining more and more seats in state governments, thereby normalizing their racism and right-wing agitation more and more. Not only on this political level, cases like those in the last few weeks regarding Egisto Ott or the lack of clarification regarding the attack in Hanau, where people with a migrant background died just because they didn’t look German enough – we see that unfortunately these right-wing extremists also do it our institutions have achieved. We must stand up together and fight for a better future. A future in which racism and poverty are only known from history books. If we organize ourselves and manage to break out of this powerlessness, then we can finally overcome this system of injustice. “says Toumi finally.
