The local police of Saint-Trond, in Limburg, and the army intervened Saturday morning on the military domain of Brustem, where some 5,000 people found themselves for a clandestine party. No arrests were made in the disused military hangar, the objective being to end the festivities in peace, said the mayor of Saint-Trond, Ingrid Kempeneers.
The organizers forced entry to the estate, bringing sound equipment, drinks and food to the site. From 11:00 p.m. and “in a few hours, thousands of people have joined the area, from Germany and the Netherlands in particular”, traced the city councilor. The music was still in full swing in the early hours.
The police were present in the morning to ensure a peaceful evacuation of the site, added Ms. Kempeneers. The police must also make the usual findings concerning the presumed break-ins.
The volume of the sound system and the thousands of vehicles parked in the vicinity caused nuisance. This is not the first time that the region has hosted this kind of illegal party.
