The General Sports Authority organized the Sports Day initiative for People of Determination, in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Command, the Emirates Down Syndrome Association, the Emirates Foundation for Ambulance Services, Al Nasr Host Club, Huawei and MENA Labs.
This event comes within the framework of the authority’s keenness to enhance the community sports culture, and to seek partnership with other sectors in line with government strategies aimed at supporting people of determination, involving them in sports activities and contributing to their empowerment and integrating them into society.
The event was attended by Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Sports Authority, Dr. Manal Jarour, Chairman of the Emirates Down Syndrome Association, and Jerry Liu, CEO of Huawei.
The initiative comes as part of a series of “sports…for life” initiatives adopted by the General Sports Authority and aimed at promoting the concept of community sports.
The initiative focused on creating a spirit of competition among 50 participants from different emirates, who were divided into football, basketball, bocce, table tennis, fitness, and group aerobics.
