50 nursing organizations denounce the systematic opposition of doctors to their emancipation

The Bill on improving access to care through trust in health professionals, known as the “Rist” Law, the examination of which began in the Senate on February 14, has raised strong protests from the unions of doctors. In a joint statement (below), 50 nursing organizations fight back and say “walk in unison for their emancipation for the exclusive benefit of healthcare users! ».

For many years, nurses in all sectors of practice, and all university levels combined, have not been recognized for their skills and responsibilities. The 700,000 nursing professionals are restrained by legislation and regulations from another era which prevent recognition as a first-line actor.

While the PPL Rist is currently being debated in the Senate, some doctors’ organizations are already protesting once morest the advances for the benefit of patients, proposed in particular for the nursing profession.

The 50 organizations of all the components of the nursing sector are united to denounce today a systematic medical opposition to any evolution of the non-medical health professions. The arguments put forward by certain organizations are from another era and are contrary to the concerns and needs of health users.

We support the Continuity of care provided by nurses which must make it possible to offer quality access to health care for the French population at all times and throughout the territory.

We believe in direct access for the 700,000 nurses, particularly with regard to wound management. This access will reduce the loss of chance and make the patient journey more fluid because the 140,000 IDELs are the main health professionals who go to French people’s homes every day, they are already referring nurses and carry out consultations on a daily basis. .

We ask for recognition of medical assistant status in advanced practice for nursing specialties whose autonomous exercise corresponds to international criteria and demand the immediate withdrawal of the project concerning the transitional measures for operating room nurses.

We support direct access, particularly in CPTS and the first prescription of IPAs, which will make it possible to provide quality care by reducing the time it takes to take care of patients.

Nurses have a decisive role in this context of medical shortages and access to care, in coordinated care with the various professionals. Determined, nursing organizations are ready to work on good terms with medical organizations as long as concerns remain truly centered on population health needs.

Nurses from all sectors and all sectors of activity (hospital, medico-social, school, health at work, in the city, etc.), must be recognized for their essential contribution to the health of the French people. Raising and recognizing the skills of nurses in all their specificities is an essential part of resolving the challenge that we are being asked to take up today in improving access to care and the patient journey.

Health professionals are all links in the same chain of care, but it is the needs and interests of the patient which are the central element and which must be the center of the union; his health must be everyone’s only priority. The postures of a secular and authoritarian medical corporatism have never advanced the health of our fellow citizens,
quite the contrary!
