LASK is taking a big step towards ending the season as the third force behind Sturm Graz and Salzburg: Linz defeated Rapid Vienna 5-0 (3-0) in the Raiffeisen Arena on Sunday.
In front of more than 17,000 spectators, Marin Ljubicic opened the scoring with a penalty (31st). This was preceded by a handball by Roman Kerschbaum in his own penalty area.
Then things happen in quick succession: First Florian Flecker (36th) increases the score to 2-0, and just two minutes later Adil Taoui (38th) scores his debut goal for the Black and Whites.

After the break, coach Thomas Darazs’ team followed up against a completely overwhelmed Rapidler.
Sachsa Horvath (56th) and Ljubicic, who was recently scolded for his exuberant sitter against Hartberg, scored the final score of 5-0.
Darasz uses the final phase to make one or two changes, for example Armin Haider makes his professional debut. In stoppage time, Flecher narrowly missed making it 6-0 with a shot from a tight angle.
While LASK is expanding its lead in the table over Rapid to eight points, Rapidler’s self-confidence has plummeted ahead of Wednesday’s cup final against Sturm Graz.
