50% increase for municipalities of Barranqueras: “We do not want the worker’s salary to deteriorate due to inflation”

Zacarías commented that on Friday, in a plenary session with the representatives of the unions, they agreed on the percentage of the salary increase that will correspond to the 2022 financial year. “In the Municipality of Barranqueras we have three organizations that represent 100% of the municipal money. We imposed a criterion that was accepted by the councilors and the workers’ representatives, so that every time there is a wage recomposition it is discussed first in a plenary session, in an open assembly in which even municipal employees can participate so that it comes out a consensual increase and also according to the projection of variation of the co-participation that the Municipality receives monthly”, he explained.

He specified that they establish an increase of 50% for 2022, in a scheme of 20% for the first semester and 30% in the second. “The 20% established for the first semester will be made up of 10% from March and 10% from May,” he said. While the composition for the liquidation of the remaining 30% will be defined in a new plenary session with the workers, “according to the variation of the co-participation and also to the need that the workers experience.”

“This has a lot to do with the imprint of our mayor, Magda Ayala, so that the increases that we have over the months are transferred in equal proportion to salary recomposition. Last year, the salary recomposition was 45%. And it was increased by 5% more because inflation in the first months also exceeded the year-on-year percentage compared to 2021. So the mayor Magda Ayala makes the decision to recompose at a higher percentage than last year, since the inflation percentage It will be higher than in 2021. Or, at least, that is what we are envisioning now, ”said the Commune official.

He stressed that the objective is that “the salary of the municipal worker is not deteriorated by inflation, we try to go a little higher as far as we can and that our finances allow it.”

Finally, he stressed that, since this administration, “we have made a lot of effort not only to restore wages but also to demand working conditions.” “We found a job insecurity of around 60%, so we made a transfer program for all the people who already worked before our management and who were precarious, some for 14 years without being able to transfer to the plant. We have corrected all these inconsistencies in labor matters through a transfer to plant program that this year will finish 100%. So, from the beginning of management until this year, 487 workers will be transferred to the plant who will enjoy their job stability in the Municipality of Barranqueras”, closed the official.
