In the last 24 hours, 50 agroforestry fires broke out. 45 were dealt with immediately, in their initial stage, while the fire forces are still dealing with 5 fires.
One of them is the fire that broke out today at noon in the Stimaga area of Corinthia. It started and develops in gullies with steep slopes and very dense vegetation, without, so far, threatening settlements.
159 firefighters with 6 forest commando groups and 49 vehicles are engaged in the extinguishing project, while 19 aerial vehicles, 11 aircraft and 8 helicopters, of which 2 for their coordination, have been allocated and operate periodically.
For this specific fire, the coordination meeting convened by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, with the participation of the relevant ministries and agencies, the local authorities and all the security forces, was completed a little while ago.
It is important to emphasize that difficult times lie ahead. In any case, we avoid actions that can cause a fire. For anything newer, the next update will follow.
