Here are five tips to prevent your device’s battery from draining too quickly, from social media specialist Nellie Brière.

Power saving mode automatically limits the performance of the mobile device in favor of longer battery life.

“It’s one of the best ways to save energy,” says Ms. Brière. If you don’t have access to it, there is always the roaming mode, but it is impossible to be contacted when it is activated.

Activating dark mode and dimming the brightness while in use consumes less power, thereby saving battery life.

“It’s the sinews of war,” comments the expert.

Notifications, including sounds, generate activity and therefore consume energy.

Disabling them, in addition to sounds, is therefore recommended.

“You can put yourself in total concentration mode, indicates Nellie Brière. Sometimes by going piecemeal with each application, it can eat up the battery, so when there is a central button, that’s the best.

Even with the best power-saving practices, phone batteries don’t last forever.

When the time comes to recharge your phone, the social network specialist recommends having a power strip on hand, to avoid surprises when a functional electrical outlet is found.

“In libraries, public places or even the metro, someone may already be using a socket,” she explains. The power strip will allow you to make friends and ensure you have access to a recharge.”

Power outages sometimes occur without warning, but when extreme weather conditions are announced, several actions can be taken to be well prepared.

It may be a good idea to write down the information contained in the cell phone that you think you will need during the outage.

Getting a solar or hand-cranked charging device to avoid having to use electricity to charge your device can also be a solution.

But even with the best preparation, the connection to the cellular network may be interrupted during an outage.

Downloading content in advance to your device can therefore be a solution to pass the time while waiting to be reconnected.
