A 13-year-old girl has also experienced it in the past few days, when she survived two shark bites in shallow water in this American state.

“Most shark bites occur in shallow water because the sharks run along the beach to feed,” said TVA Nouvelles correspondent in Florida, Marie Poupart.

It is also at this place that we list the most attacks.

Of the 57 shark attacks reported in 2022 worldwide, 41 occurred in the United States, including 16 in Florida, mostly in the Daytona area.

“Sharks, like Snowbirds, like warm waters,” continues Ms. Poupart. In Florida, too, there are many wharves or long piers where sharks take refuge to have the chance to eat a carcass thrown into the water.

Four of the six attacks reported this year in the United States occurred in that state.

Here are five tips to greatly reduce the chances of being bitten by this predator.

“Often sharks will attack a person who is alone.”

“You are also told never to bathe early in the morning or following sunset, that’s very important because they are more active in feeding during these hours.”

“We also say not to bathe if you have an open wound, explains Ms. Poupart. These tips come from the University of Florida.”

“When you wear jewelry in water, it looks like fish scales.”

“Also never bathe in water that is not clear, adds the correspondent in Florida. Make sure the water is crystal clear enough so you can see what’s going on around you.”

Ms. Poupart nevertheless mentions that the chances of being bitten by a shark are one in 3.7 million.
