5 tips to age less quickly without surgery

At a time when Botox and plastic surgeries are widely used to erase the signs of aging, a British doctor offers several ways to age less rapidly without going under the knife or undergoing injections, reports the Daily Mail.

Dr. Asiya Maula, director of Health Suite, a private medical company in the UK, offers several methods that are, for the most part, natural. Moreover, some of them do not cost a penny.

Here are five tips to slow down aging without surgery:

By strengthening your muscles and stimulating your blood circulation, facial yoga can help your face maintain firmer, plumper skin by stimulating collagen production.

In order to get results, experts recommend performing facial exercises twice a day: five minutes in the morning when you get up and five minutes in the evening right before you go to bed.

Start by warming up your face by opening your jaw as if you want to yawn, then look up without moving your head. Hold the pose for 10 seconds, then repeat.

Thereafter, you must perform three to four facial expressions that you hold for 30 seconds each. For example, move your chin to the side and lift it slightly, then place your lips as if you were going to give a kiss. Hold the pose for 10 seconds and then repeat this exercise turning your chin in the other direction.

The sun’s rays can reduce the appearance of wrinkles on your face. Plus, going outside will provide you with vitamin D, which is essential for the health of your bones, teeth, and muscles.

Sunlight also helps reduce stress, which is an important factor in aging.

However, don’t forget to put on sunscreen, as direct exposure to the sun’s rays could have the opposite effect and prematurely age your skin.

The insertion of fine needles into certain parts of the body has been gaining popularity in the West for several years and is notably used to replace dermal filler injections.

Acupuncture helps your body release fibroblasts, cells that serve to protect your tissues and organs. This treatment, invented a very long time ago in China, also stimulates the production of elastin, which slows down the loss of firmness in your skin.

A lack of sleep is often synonymous with dark circles, puffy eyelids and pale skin, but studies also claim that too short nights have aging effects on your body.

According to a 2013 study in the United States, people who lack sleep are more likely to be wrinkled and have more variable skin tone.

Researchers from the University of California also found in 2015 that lack of sleep can accelerate cell aging.

Arguably the least natural of Dr. Maula’s methods, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can still help rejuvenate your skin.

This technique allows you to breathe air composed of 100% oxygen, whereas the air you usually breathe contains about 20%.

Being exposed to this “pure oxygen” promotes collagen production and reduces the number of wrinkles.

This method also has the effect of improving your concentration and memory, in addition to increasing your blood circulation.
