Everyone has a bucket list, which includes a combination of experiences and events that one wants to partake in before kicking the bucket. The activities on this list should be personal and written by no other person other than yourself. In order to contain me from randomly writing things down, here are five experiences I want to have before my life comes to an end:
1) Attend a UK Football Game
Being from North Carolina where college basketball is king, UK football games were always something that was just an followingthought for me. It’s not that I hated it, I just never had any interest nor did I ever really see a reason why everyone else seemed so crazy regarding going to them. This all changed when my fraternity brother, who graduated two years ago from the UK, came down to visit me at Wake Forest. Every time I mention him, I call him by his nickname “Chumlee”. It is derived from the character of the same name on the TV show “Pawn Stars” because they are both southern boys dealing in firearms. It’s an inside joke that everyone involved gets but if it makes you laugh then don’t even bother trying to understand it. Back to Chumlee coming down for a visit; he tried meticulously to convince me that one Saturday followingnoon during football season was not enough time to experience all that goes into being at a game in Lexington. Well following regarding 30 minutes of how badly he wanted this for me and how excited he was to have me down for the game, I finally caved in and said yes.
2) Play Online Casino
If you haven’t guessed already, the next activity on my bucket list is going to a casino and gambling online. Although I have been to Atlantic City once before, it just wasn’t enough time at the tables for me. Even though I don’t consider myself a particular “high roller”, I do know what it’s like to lose hundreds of dollars in one-night gambling with money that might’ve been used for things such as groceries or rent/utilities. As much as I enjoy playing blackjack and poker, I have found myself most enjoying roulette when going out with friends to gamble. There doesn’t seem to be much thinking involved, just a lot of luck, and who can stand there for the longest without having to get up. If I had the money, I would sit at the Blackjack tables all night but that is not an option. My solution? Play online casino!
3) Become an Eagle Scout
So here’s where things get interesting… As many people know, becoming an Eagle Scout is no joke. Expectations are extremely high which makes achieving the rank all worth it in the end. The unfortunate part is that the process takes a lot of time and dedication, which is something I am not sure I have anymore. However, this has been on my list since I was very young so it would be wrong for me to give up before even trying.
4) Climb Mt. Rainier
I grew up in Washington State where mountains were always popular destinations for vacationers or outdoor enthusiasts. There are plenty of them around but none as big or as famous as Mount Rainier, which sits atop Seattle’s skyline looking down onto the city. During summer break from high school, my cousin took us on a trip to Seattle where we hiked regarding 8 miles roundtrip up to Reflection Lake which sat just below the snowcapped peak. We were not able to get all the way up as it was already July and the glacier was quickly melting. However, I have no doubts that one day I will be able to make it to the top of this massive mountain.
5) Experience New Orleans
This should actually read “Experience New Orleans During Mardi Gras” but there is only so much information you can put into one article without overloading your reader’s brain. Let me just wrap up my description by saying that you will never see anything like this in your entire life! The bars are open 24 hours a day, which means literally walking down any street might result in stumbling into someone’s second line (a local tradition where locals gather together at parades). You will definitely get to experience southern hospitality at its finest!
As you can see, I have a lot of things to accomplish in life. If any one of these activities sounds intriguing to you then consider yourself tagged! My bucket list is constantly changing and growing so make sure to check back later for any updates. I welcome anyone who wishes to join me on any of these quests, just make sure to get in touch with me beforehand so we can plan accordingly!
