I just reviewed Samsung’s Galaxy M54, I can say that it has evolved in relation to the Galaxy M53, but there are still some things that need to be improved by Samsung, but following all, what’s wrong with the Galaxy M54? We analyze the main problems and absences that the M54 has in relation to competitors of the same price range and category.
Samsung Galaxy M54: 5 reasons NOT to buy
Reason 1: Slow to load
The first reason is the slow loading. The Galaxy M54 did very well in our battery test, certainly Android 13 with the Exynos 1380 has done a great job in saving battery life, lasting the full cycle that we do when we analyze the battery of smartphones, but the problem was when charging. The box charger is only 15W, it takes 2h44min to complete the charge. If you usually charge overnight, it’s not really a problem. But, let’s say you forgot to charge it yesterday and the battery is at 20%, you have 10 minutes before you leave for an appointment, those 10 minutes will only enter 2 or 3% battery.
Reason 2: Things are missing
The second reason is the lack of things that its brother A54 has, such as stereo sound, IP67 or IP68 protection once morest water and dust. The lack of stereo sound on a smartphone of this caliber is disingenuous. The smartphone is big, it has a value that is not that low, why take something so fundamental nowadays. IP67 is not all mid-range smartphones that have it, so we can even mitigate this absence, but even so, the A54 has it, costing practically the same thing.
Reason 3: All plastic trim
The smartphone has a more modest finish, perhaps one of the conditions to make it more affordable, with the exception of the screen, the product is all made of plastic. It marks fingers on the back surface, it will scratch more easily as it doesn’t have any extra protection on the back. As mentioned before, it doesn’t have water protection either, so be aware that you’re buying a product with a lower finish than the A54.
Reason 4: You hate Exynos
There are Samsung fans, there are Snapdragon fans, and there are Exynos haters, that’s a fact. If you are a Samsung processor hater, know that in the M54, as well as in the A54, it is the Samsung processor that is used in it. The Exynos 1380, a 5nm processor with 4 strong cores at 2.4GHz, where in our tests it performed as expected, nothing more than what was expected. The predecessor M53, for example, has a MediaTek Dimensity processor, until then one of the most popular cell phones on Oficina da Net in 2022 and 2023. The two are equivalent in performance, it was not such a big advance from one generation to another. Anyway, if the Exynos peeves exist, stay away from the M54.
Reason 5: Galaxy A54 exists
Reason 4 is the existence of the Galaxy A54, which we have already analyzed here. The A54 delivers more things as I mentioned, it has IP67 protection, which despite being something extra, only those who dropped their cell phone in water know how important it is to buy a smartphone with this protection. In addition, the A54 has glass at the rear, a more solid construction. In terms of performance, the two perform similarly, they have the same processor and memories, and the A54 will basically lose out on battery life, which anyway did well in our autonomy tests.
Some of these reasons are real problems that Samsung will need to deal with, such as the powerful charger, other reasons for comparison make other models more attractive, so it’s worth studying and understanding what you prefer in a smartphone. I reviewed the M54, a great cell phone, which basically lacks the charger, as well as several other Samsung cell phones.
