5 little-known features of Disney+

Just like Netflix, Disney+ is a service that offers a whole bunch of features that are not always well known. Here are a few…

Prevent the next episode from automatically launching

Perhaps even more than Netflix, the end credits of Disney productions are sometimes emblematic. But unfortunately, the streaming platform of the big-eared mouse studios automatically plays the next episode, as do its competitors. Here’s how to turn it off if it’s not for you.

To do this, it’s very simple: on Disney+ on computer, click on your profile photo, then go to “edit profile” (or in English “edit profile”). Then select your profile, and you will arrive on a page where you will have the option to activate or deactivate the functionality.

Select download quality

Like Netflix, Disney+ offers the possibility of downloading a certain number of Disney+ films or series in order to view them offline.

But of course, there is a limit to the memory of your device. Especially since this functionality is only available on Smartphones and Tablets. So what to do?

Well, if you don’t mind lower picture quality, then Disney+ delivers the solution on a platter. You can indeed change the quality of the download, and thus, by selecting the lowest quality, save space.

To do this, simply go to the settings menu of the application on your smartphone. There you will find a video quality option in the download settings. You can choose high, medium, or low quality.

Prevent your child from leaving the age-appropriate profile

We tend to forget it a little, but Disney+ is not just a platform for children. And Marvel, Star Wars, or even Star content, for example, is not always suitable for little ones.

To create a child profile, simply create a new profile and check the “child profile” option. But that won’t stop your child from leaving to join a more adult profile… but there is a solution.

In fact, it is possible to activate the protected exit functionality. With this, not only will you be assured that they only have access, on their profile, to content adapted to their age, but also, they will no longer be able to leave the profile without knowing a password (which you you will be careful to communicate to him, of course).

To do this, simply edit the profile, in the same way as for classic profiles, following the method described in the first point of this article, and go down to the bottom.

Note that, unlike Protected Exit, the age category selection does not work on children’s profiles (which are, in a way, a form of “default version” of the child’s profile, but which will remove all Star Wars content, for example). To do this, you must create a “normal” profile, but unfortunately, you will then no longer be able to activate the protected output. A bit paradoxical…

Customize subtitles

Another nice feature, and also provided by Netflix. On Disney+, it is indeed possible to change the appearance of the subtitles, and rather easily, what’s more.

In fact, when you start a film or series, all you need to do is go to the menu allowing you to select Audio and Subtitles, then click on the toothed wheel.

Disney+ provides a good range of possibilities for subtitles, making it easy to personalize your experience.

Watch series together remotely

A little Disney+ feature that Netflix is sorely lacking. The Groupwatch option, which must be enabled in the profile settings, allows you to schedule a watch with your friends located on the other side of the world.

To do this, when you want to watch a program, go to its menu and press the icon representing several people.

Tap the “+” next to your profile picture to create an invite link. Of course, your friends must have access to the content on Disney+.

Log into a voice chat service like Discord, if you want to chat during the movie, and launch the program!
