About 5 people died and 16 others were injured by a shooting this Monday in a parade for the Independence Day of the United States in the town of Highland Park, Illinois, the city’s Mayor’s Office reported in a statement.
Security forces were looking for the suspect in the shooting, according to the mayor’s office, which asked neighbors to seek refuge because there was still danger.

Security forces obtained evidence that the suspect had a firearm, according to the statement.
the shooting it came regarding 10 minutes following the parade started at 9:00 local time and caused dozens of people to start running scared by the sound of gunfire, show videos broadcast on social networks.
to the parade authorities had come, including the governor of Illinois, Democrat Jay Robert Pritzker, and Democratic legislator Brad Schnider.
Schnider explained on Twitter that he has received information regarding “loss of life and injuries”although he did not provide further details.

“My condolences to the families and their loved ones. My prayers are with the injured and their community. I promise to do everything I can to keep our children, our cities, our nation safe. Enough, enough!” he said on Twitter.
Highland Park is a residential area approximately 40 kilometers from Chicago where regarding 30,000 people live, according to the 2020 census.
