ENTERING the dry season, the Ciwulan and Cilamajang Rivers threaten 5 hectares of agricultural land in Kampung Tanjung, Karanganyar, Gunung Tandala, Talagasari and Kersamenak, Kersamenak Village, Kawalu District, Tasikmalaya City, West Java. The drought has begun to occur in various areas because many river flows have shrunk.

However, if there is no rain, it is certain that the condition of the agricultural land will get worse.
“Agricultural land that is threatened with drought in the dry season this year is still 1 month old and others are waiting for the harvest. However, with the current incident, we have carried out outreach, especially to farmers so that they plant secondary crops, because many of the rice fields in Kawalu District are used “The water source is from the river,” he said, Tuesday (30/7/2024).
He said, the 5-hectare land is located in Kampung Tanjung, Karanganyar, Gunung Tandala, Talagasari, Kersamenak, Kersamenak Village, Kawalu District, all of which are under threat of water supply shortages to the point that many agricultural lands are split. However, with the current conditions, farmers are still trying to pump water even though the distance is quite far, but so far they have been advised to plant secondary crops.
“The dry season that has started now has indeed provided 3 water pumps as assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture and the machines will also be used by farmers. However, so far there are still obstacles considering that the flow of the Ciwulan and Cilamajang rivers has shrunk, but another strategy is to expect secondary crop farmers to follow the instructions of the Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service (DKPPP) of Tasikmalaya City,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kawalu Sub-district Head, Iing Sugriman said, agricultural land in his area is indeed in the current dry season, many agricultural lands have begun to be threatened and according to instructions from the Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service (DKPPP) for farmers to cultivate new land by planting secondary crops. Because, plants can be a substitute for families rather than big losses.

Because, entering the dry season, many agricultural lands in their area of 5 hectares are starting to be threatened,” he explained. (AD)
