5 Game-Changing WhatsApp Hacks to Supercharge Your iPhone Experience

Character formatting

WhatsApp is no longer just SMS. Did you know that you can format messages to make them more fun, engaging and easier to read? You can use asterisks, underscores, and ellipses to bold, italicize, strikethrough, and even insert quotation marks.

How to do it? It’s easy! Simply enter the required characters before and after the text you want to format. For example, use asterisks (text) for bold, underscores (text) for italics, and tildes (~text~) for strikethrough. Detailed instructions and examples can be found in the gallery below.

Lists of all kinds

Apart from character formatting, you can also easily type lists automatically in WhatsApp. To create lists, block quotes, or embed code in WhatsApp on iPhone, follow these instructions:

  • To create a bulleted list, type a hyphen followed by a space.
  • For a numbered list, write one or two numbers followed by a period and a space.
  • For a block quote, use the > symbol followed by a space.
  • To insert the code, enclose the text in “ back apostrophes.

Block conversations

Do you have a WhatsApp conversation that you keep coming back to? You can pin it to the top of all your conversation lists and always have it at hand. Simply swipe from left to right on the selected conversation in the conversation list and tap the Add icon. That’s all! From now on you will always have important conversations ahead, saving time and nerves.

Favorite messages at your fingertips

Have you ever found a message in a chat that you wanted to save for later? No problems with WhatsApp! Thanks to the special messages function, you can easily save important messages and find them at any time. Simply long-press the message in the conversation and select Starred in the menu that appears. You will then be able to clearly find all the messages marked in this way in the Settings -> Messages with asterisk section. Here you will see a chronologically ordered list of all saved messages, which you can view individually. Tap a message to open it in the context of that conversation.

(Do not) save media attachments in the gallery

Does it bother you that the photos that others send you via WhatsApp are automatically saved in your iPhone gallery, taking up space? Fortunately, you have the option to disable this feature. How to do it? Just turn off the Save to Camera Folder switch in the Settings -> Chats section. From now on, any media you just downloaded from WhatsApp will not be automatically saved to your phone’s gallery.

But keep in mind that this change will only affect newly downloaded photos and videos. Photos and videos previously saved to your gallery will be preserved. If you want to get rid of them, you will have to delete them manually.
