Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of death among cancers and is often curable if caught early.
In the context of this, we review the early symptoms of colorectal cancer that if they persist for more than a few weeks, a doctor should be consulted immediately, according to the “eatthis” website.
Blood in stool or rectal bleeding:
Bleeding of blood in the stool or rectum occurs because cancer erodes the blood vessels in the lining of the colon or rectum, and this bleeding is usually painless, so you should consult a doctor immediately if there is blood in the stool.
Change in stool volume:
A change in stool volume is a sign of colorectal cancer. This symptom is caused by a tumor that partially blocks the colon or rectum, causing compressed stools. Irritable bowel syndrome also causes loose stools. So if stool volume changes persist for more than 3 days, you should consult a doctor immediately.
Abdominal cramps or pain:
The cause of cramping or abdominal pain is gas and bloating caused by a bowel obstruction due to a colorectal cancer tumor.
Bloating:
The feeling of bloating is caused by a CRC tumor.
Weakness and fatigue
Weakness and fatigue are common symptoms of cancer, but it can also be caused by other conditions such as hemorrhoids or irritable bowel syndrome.
