4L Enthusiasts’ Annual Gathering in Vendôme: A Celebration of Renault’s Iconic Model

They come from all over the country, but also from elsewhere. Friday May 17, 2024, around a hundred enthusiasts set off for Vendôme at the wheel of their 4L. A Renault brand model produced for more than thirty years (1961-1992). In France, but also in Spain, Argentina or even Colombia and Morocco.

A model stopped by the diamond brand for technical reasons. “Production stopped following the implementation of the anti-pollution standardconfides Gilles, member of the club. The cars were catalyzed or, for the 4L it was an operation that was too expensive so Renault decided to say stop”. In three decades, more than eight million 4L-branded automobiles have been on the roads. And still running 32 years following the end of production.

From May 17 to 20, 2024, at the call of the national association 4L-R6 Club de France. An annual gathering organized in a different region each Pentecost weekend. “This year it’s Loir-et-Cher and Vendôme for the simple reason that only the Au Cœur de Vendôme campsite might accommodate so many people at the same timepoints out Magali Mennetrat, member of the club and organizer of the gathering. We searched a lot because it’s not easy to find accommodation for a hundred people, and what’s more, over the Pentecost weekend”.

103 people gathered
for the 2024 gathering

This year, there will be 103 enthusiasts taking the road to Vendôme. And thus celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first 4L-R6 Club de France gathering, organized in Châteauroux (36) in 1999. Around ten people and seven cars were at this first meeting. Like 25 years ago, these enthusiasts will visit the Loir-et-Chérien heritage at the wheel of their machines.

On the program for this weekend, the Bretonnerie farm in Romilly with a cheese tasting, the Roches mushroom cellar, a boat trip to Chisseaux to discover the Chenonceau castle, then, on Monday, a visit to L ‘Atelier Saint-Michel, in Contres. At the end of the day, everyone gets together for an evening around a meal and some entertainment.

Passionate, or simply curious, Vendômois and other visitors will be able to meet the members of the club once they return to the area, at the campsite. “People can come from 6 p.m.”, warn the organizers. The opportunity to discuss 4L.
