According to the Vienna State Police Directorate, the man had previously climbed onto the subway tracks with the e-scooter at the Meidlinger Hauptstraße stop and drove in the direction of Hütteldorf. He stopped just before the Schönbrunn stop and put the scooter on the tracks. The approaching subway train might not brake in time and ran over the e-scooter, the 48-year-old jumped to the side. Next to the tracks, the suspect then set fire to objects he was carrying and waited. Among the items were suspected narcotic paraphernalia, such as a hypodermic syringe and a spoon, as control inspector Markus Dittrich specified.
The Vienna fire brigade was quickly on the spot to extinguish the fire, which had now grown into a small fire, and brought the 48-year-old to safety from the track bed, and the badly damaged e-scooter was also recovered. The 48-year-old was taken to a hospital and given medical treatment. A medical examination to determine a drug impairment was refused, but several reports followed.
