Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru have 48-hour work weeks, according to Bloomberg.

Despite the fact that, more than 60 years ago, the International Labor Organization (OIT) recommended that Latin American countries reduce their Labor journeys at 40 hours a week, there are still several countries that exceed it, one of them is Peru.

According to a Bloomberg report, Ecuador is the only country with the shortest working hours in Latin America, since they have 40 hours a week.

It is worth saying that Chile will follow the same path, now that its Congress has approved the initiative that gradually reduces the working day, from 45 to 40 hours a week. Although the reduction will be completed in 5 years.

Countries with 48 working hours per week

However, there are still 8 countries with a 48-hour work week, one of them is Peruas well as Paraguay, Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, Bolivia and Argentina.

Although, the days can also vary according to the Economic sectors. For example, in Uruguay, where only industrial workers work 48 hours, the rest do 44.

Although 48 hours is the maximum limit of hours, the weekly average of effective hours is 37, refer to figures from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

In this case, Peru is one of those that falls within this average; although there are countries where less work is done such as Panama, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile.
