Naveed Kamal, a journalist who monitors the news related to crime, while analyzing the situation in the city, told Independent Urdu that it is normal for the number of street crime in Karachi to be less than a few hundred, even if it is a seven-month figure. If the figures are compared with last year, they are less.

But the fact that 44,000 incidents have been reported is still proof that street crime is still at the forefront of Karachi’s most serious problems. About 88 people have been killed and hundreds injured during the robbery.

Naveed Kamal further said that there is a fear of street crime among the citizens. The police have also arrested street criminals on a daily basis but the question is whether to punish them in court.

If you look at the data of the accused released from jail, it takes one and a half to two months for the accused involved in street crime, 15 days to one and a half months for the accused of car and motorcycle theft, and three to six months for the accused of house robbery. I have succeeded.’

According to Naveed Kamal: ‘The real problem in Karachi is the poor investigation and irresponsible behavior of the investigative police. The investigation department of the police runs on a completely different track from the operations department of the police. Due to which the number of repeat offenders increases.’
