HAMPTON, Va. – The 19th-ranked Oklahoma wrestling team (4-2, 2-2 Big 12) resumes its dual slate on Friday to compete in the 43rd annual Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va. The Sooners will face No. 16 Navy (6-0) at 12:30 and Wisconsin (4-1) at 2 p.m.
Fans can watch both duals with a FloWrestling subscription. Live stats will be provided through Trackwrestling.
The six-team tournament field features top-25 opponents in No. 11 South Dakota State and No.16 Navy.
Our Last Trip to the Virginia Duals
The Sooners most recently appeared at the Virginia Duals in 2023, coming away with a 3-1 record.
The opening match of the tournament resulted in a loss to No. 23 Maryland before OU rattled off three straight wins capped off by a 28-12 victory over Navy, winning the first six matches of the dual. . They took down Ohio (33-6) and Campbell (22-9) along the way as well.
Josh Heindselman, Mosha Schwartz, Jared Hill, Gerrit Nijenhuis and Tate Picklo all picked up wins in that tournament and will represent the Sooners once more this weekend.
No Vacation in the Hamptons
This represents the Sooners 13th appearance in the Virginia Duals. The program holds a 34-18 (.654) record all-time in the prestigious tournament.
The 34 wins is second most among participating teams with 13 or less appearances.
UP NEXT
Oklahoma will return to McCasland Field House to square off once morest No. 4 Iowa State at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Jan. 26. The dual will be televised on ESPN+.
