“I’m excited. Seeing Don Rómulo and listening to the words he addressed to us in the dressing room left me happy. That he was with us was wonderful,” Román stressed, after the 1-1 draw that encouraged the historic Chillaneja team with the 60-year-old team from Arauco, played at the ANFA stadium, facilitated by the board chaired by Carlos San Martín.
“He deserved this tribute long before, but it is never too late to thank those who taught us what we know about football. It was nice to meet our teammates again and we will play until God says,” stressed the talented Nelson “Mencho” Reynero.
“Don Rómulo deserves this. A very brave man. With enormous human quality. A very ethical being. We learned a lot from the reflex training he gave us. A portent. He always trusts me and he even used me as a left back in Nacional,” recalled Jorge Díaz, former midfielder, winger and left forward.
“It was a very exciting night. This reunion with my former classmates and our teacher Rómulo Oses leaves us happy. We had a great team. First level. It was a different time,” revealed the once fast leader, Héctor “Punta” Hormazábal.
“Almost all of my teammates arrived, I take with me a nice memory and I am happy to be able to hug Don Rómulo, a great person on and off the field. A football gentleman. His tactics and paying attention to everything led us to become regional champions,” stated the remembered left forward of that glorious team, Héctor “Titín” Bello.
The mayor of Chillán, Camilo Benavente, summarized the imprint of the beloved coach.
“I want to congratulate and thank Rómulo Oses infinitely for everything he has given to this city. This selection is another example of many actions that Don Rómulo has led. I am pleased to know him and his family.
