The woman was on her way home from work around 3 a.m. when a stranger suddenly pushed her into the garage entrance of a residential complex and assaulted her. Neighbors then became aware of the woman through cries for help. The perpetrator then fled, police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger reported to the APA.
According to Haßlinger, there are also video recordings from close to the crime scene. “The images are currently being saved and then evaluated,” said the spokesman. The victim was taken to a hospital and has not yet been interviewed. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation.
Police also released a description of the suspect on Sunday. This is a slim man who is around 175 to 180 centimeters tall and was wearing dark or black trousers, a dark to black hoodie and black sneakers with thick white soles at the time of the crime. The unknown person was also carrying a white plastic carrier bag. The investigators asked for relevant information to the State Criminal Police Office on 01-31310-33800.
