For 40 years it has offered people with disabilities an idyllic and rejuvenating living environment on the banks of the Doubs in St-Ursanne. The “Au fil du Doubs” foundation will celebrate its fortieth anniversary with great fanfare on September 23rd. A gala dinner which should bring together 200 guests with raffle, auction and concerts will be organised. A way to raise funds and make the foundation better known, which has undergone a restructuring in recent years.

“Financially, we are starting to get our heads out of the water”

Au Fil du Doubs historically welcomed “vacationers” for a few months during the year, it now welcomes permanent residents. “It worked 4-5 months out of the year, but it wasn’t going well financially. We have a capacity of 11 residents and we currently welcome seven, soon to be eight. It would take ten to be profitable. The first times of restructuring were difficult due to the Covid. We survived thanks to donations. There, we start to take our heads out of the water, ”confides the director of the foundation, Yves Eray. In particular, it was necessary to recover from the Covid period which generated losses of around 400,000 francs. The 40th anniversary festivities aim to bring residents a moment of joy, but also to raise awareness and make the institution and its new missions better known.

If it lives today on residents’ pensions and donations, the auction and raffle organized on the occasion of the quarantine also bring a welcome extra. “I’ve been looking for funds for 40 years and it’s getting harder and harder. Extras are a plus. Donations will continue, but we cannot constantly call on donors… The objective is really to reach these ten residents and we need to publicize our reception possibilities for this”, adds the president of the foundation. , Jean-Maurice Maitre. will be auctioned to raise funds the jerseys of the Swiss team goalkeeper Yann Sommer, the Jura cyclist Yanis Voisard, the former captain of HC Ajoie Jordane Hauert, the helmet of the Swiss skier Loïc Meillard or even a work by the artist D’Onofrio. /jpi
