40,000 Euro Hotel Theft Suspect Arrested by Brussels Police: Latest News and Updates

A patrol from the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone arrested on Tuesday the suspect of a theft of various goods worth 40,000 euros to the detriment of tourists, she communicated on Monday. The theft was committed on May 22 in a hotel in downtown Brussels. The individual was placed under arrest warrant by an investigating judge.

“The suspect allegedly searched a suitcase and removed items worth nearly 40,000 euros, including jewelry, cosmetics and 8,000 euros in cash”police said in a statement on Monday. “After being recognized on images from video surveillance cameras, the man had been reported to be searched. On Tuesday, he was spotted by a patrol from the Trekkers brigade and then arrested”.

The suspect, illegally staying in Belgium, is not unknown to the police. He was made available to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office following a hearing. “He might be linked to other flights, but refused any cooperation“, added the local police. “The prosecution seized an investigating judge, who placed the suspect under an arrest warrant.
