Two people were arrested and more than 400 tickets were issued Friday during a major road operation on the Jean-Lesage highway, between the Quebec and Ontario border, to the city of Riviere-du-Loup.
More than 414 statements of offense were issued during this operation, including 229 for speeding, according to a press release from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Two people were also arrested, one for narcotics and the other for alleged breach of probation.
This operation is part of a larger strategy, “Human life, at the heart of our actions”, which aims to make Quebec roads, trails and waterways safer for everyone.
The objective is to “reduce the number of fatal collisions and those with serious injuries on the road and recreational tourism networks”, indicated the SQ.
