A primary school charges parents a registration fee. The director pleads clumsiness of communication.
No less than 400 euros for one child, 600 euros for two or more children: this is the amount requested from the parents of students at the Plein Air primary school in Uccle to be able to re-enroll them for the 2022-2023 school year. In a letter dated April, the school management indicates that the parents “will be invited by the non-profit organization Safeguarding (Editor’s note the non-profit organization of the school) “ to pay these sums.
The document also includes, for information purposes, the amount of various school fees such as evening or midday daycare and school excursions. The letter also mentions a list of commitments that the parents of students must respect. Among them, the promise to financially support the school. “Owner of its buildings, the school must face maintenance, renovation and construction work every year” , justifies the direction. A few paragraphs earlier, she writes “that it appeared quite quickly that new funding for extra-curricular time and more participatory help for parents should see the light of day”.
