Clear affair for SV Guntamatic Ried: The Innviertel team beat St. Pölten 4-0 away in the 2nd football league. “I’m proud of the boys, they did an excellent job,” said coach Maximilian Senft. At least second place should not be taken away from the Vikings: Thanks to Leoben’s defeat (0-2 once morest Admira), Ried is five points ahead of third place.
In the Lower Austrian capital, Ried got off to a real dream start: Mark Grosse made it 1-0 with a rebound in the seventh minute following an assist from Wilfried Eza. Three minutes later the guests followed up: David Bumberger only had to push in following a cross from Fabian Wohlmuth. In the 17th minute the game was decided: Eza scored from a cross from Nikki Havenaar to make it 3-0. The second Eza goal was also the final score: following an exemplary Grosse-Loch pass, the 27-year-old remained ice cold in front of St. Pölten’s goalkeeper Pirmin Strasser (68th), making it 4-0.
The first summer transfer had already been fixed before the game: goalkeeper Felix Wimmer is moving from regional league team Gurten to Ried, the 25-year-old signed a contract until 2026. He is supposed to replace substitute goalkeeper Jonas Wendlinger at the Senft team.
