Books – Syed Metwally

During the cold weather and the winter season, the incidence of colds increases, but the emergence of infections with the new Corona virus, Omicron, in Egypt, has raised concern, especially since its symptoms are very similar to the symptoms of the common cold, so how can they be distinguished?

How to differentiate between catching a cold and symptoms of the new corona mutant or micron

According to Dr. Magdy Badran, a member of the Egyptian Society of Allergy and Immunology, in a statement to Masrawy, the common signs and symptoms of colds and flu are as follows:

• High temperature

• muscle pain

• Chills and sweating

• headache

• Dry and persistent cough

• shortness of breath

• Fatigue and weakness

• stuffy or runny nose

• sore throat

Eye pain

• Vomiting and diarrhoea, (more common among children than adults).

As for the symptoms of the new Corona mutant, Omikron, Badran reveals:

Extreme tiredness

– muscle inflammation

Throat scratch

– dry cough

Feeling uncomfortable

Mild cough in some cases

There is no loss of taste or smell.

There are 4 distinct symptoms of Omicron that differ from the symptoms of the common cold, and they are:

Nausea.

Vomiting.

– Anorexia.

Night sweats.

Badran put to “Masrawy” a prescription for the prevention of colds and influenza, to include the following:

Wash hands well with warm water and soap, and dry them because wet hands transmit microbes.

Do not take antibiotics without consulting a doctor, because they weaken immunity and increase the duration of the disease. They are also intended to eliminate bacteria, while colds are viral.

Not playing with hands in the nose, eyes and mouth, because winter viruses enter the body through them, and hands are usually contaminated, and therefore when touching the mouth, nose and eyes, the chances of winter diseases increase.

Children in general, infants in particular, the elderly, drug and alcohol addicts, and smokers are the most vulnerable groups to colds.

– Staying away from smoking in all forms of tobacco phenicotine increases the temperature of the skin, especially with the consumption of alcohol, as tobacco products reduce the movement of blood circulation in the skin and delay attempts to warm it.

Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, as they provide the body with antioxidants that protect once morest pollution and free radicals, fibers that raise immunity and reduce allergies, and vitamins that raise immunity, such as vitamin A and vitamin D.

Vitamin A is available in:

Breastfeeding of children.

Eat eggs, milk, butter, liver, carrots, potatoes, spinach, broccoli, beets, tomatoes, bell peppers, peas, mangoes, cantaloupes, apricots, oranges, peaches, papas.

Regarding foods rich in vitamin C:

– Guava is on the throne of foods rich in vitamin C, kiwi, broccoli, peppers with different colors, tomatoes, oranges, tangerines, lemons, parsley.

Aromatic herbs such as mint, anise, and chamomile

Fresh thyme is the richest culinary herb in vitamin C, and contains three times more vitamin C than oranges.

Folic acid increases immunity among its many benefits, and its most important sources are:
