4 Strong Female Figures in the Film Ransom

PRODUCER of the film Ransom Sins, Mieske Taurisia, admitted that he was looking for strong women who could play the characters in the film Ransom Sins. That is the reason Palari Films chose Happy Salma (Wening), Putri Marino (Tirta), Lakshmi Notokusumo (Uti Yah), and Keiko Ananta (Nirmala) to play in this horror genre film.

“We need strong women in the film Ransom Sins because we want to present profiles of strong women who always fight, it’s okay to fall, and then get up again. “Don’t get tired of continuing to fight to pursue your hopes,” said Mieke at the Press Screening of the film Tebusan Dosa, at XXI Epicentrum, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/10).

1. Happy Salma (Wening)

In the film Ransom Sins, the audience is invited to experience the tireless struggle of a mother. Wening, played by Happy Salma, is faced with darkness and fear and must uncover a dark secret in order to find her missing child.

Through Wening’s character, the audience is invited to feel the feelings of emptiness and emptiness of loss, anxiety in the face of uncertainty, and hope that never goes out. Searching for her child not only tests Wening’s physical strength, but also tests her emotional strength as a mother.

“Wening impressed me about her vitality and always looking for other possibilities, and being able to survive in any situation,” said Wening’s actor in Happy Salma’s Ransom.

2. Princess Marino (Tirta)

Meanwhile, Putri Marino, who plays Tirta, a podcaster who helps Wening in her search, also provides her own color in this film.

Putri’s subtle appearance makes the drama in this film even more solid by providing a strong independent female characterization.

“Ransom is not only a horror mystery but also a strong story with drama. “Hopefully Indonesian audiences can also accept this film,” said Putri.

Putri admitted that one of the reasons she took on this film project was because she wanted to heal herself from a huge sense of loss. For your information, Putri Marino lost her father who died in January 2023.

“After a year of experiencing a huge loss, I finally made a film about loss. “At first I thought that by taking on this project I could heal myself, but it turned out to be difficult,” he said.

3. Laksmi Notokusumo (Uti Yah)

Laksmi Notokusumo, who plays Uti Yah in the film Ransom Dosa, admitted that she was very challenged by the character she played, it was a beautiful feeling that she had never felt before.

“It could be because of my age. I learned to exist and not exist or vice versa not exist but exist. Is this how I will feel later? “There are those and those that don’t exist, but there is still hope,” he said.

For your information, Laksmi Notokusumo is a director who is also a breast and lymph cancer survivor in 2007. As a cancer survivor, Laksmi also still practices theater and dance.

4. Keiko Ananta (Nirmala)

Keiko Ananta, who plays Nirmala, said that playing in this horror genre film was her way of getting out of her comfort zone. So far, this actress and child model who has acted in several films and advertisements has always played in drama genre films.

Apart from these four women, this film also stars Bhisma Mulia, Japanese actor Shogen, and Haru Sandra. Produced by Muhammad Zaidy and Meiske Taurisia, the film is also supported by the production studio that produced the phenomenal South Korean horror “Exhuma”, Showbox.

The producer of the horror mystery Ransom, Muhammad Zaidy, said this film was an important achievement for him and Palari Films in exploring the genre.
