LAS VEGAS (AP) — Four days following falling 3-0, the Las Vegas Raiders woke up with 42 points in half a game, didn’t allow the Los Angeles Chargers to cross midfield until the third quarter and broke a record on Thursday, with a 63-21 blowout.
The Raiders scored the most points in franchise history. They surpassed the record set on October 24, 2010, when they triumphed 59-14 in Denver.
This is the most points allowed by the Chargers, who had allowed 57 to the St. Louis Rams on October 1, 2000.
The Raiders led 42-0 at halftime. They were just three points shy of the largest half-game margin in NFL history.
That record dates back to 2009, when New England took a 45-0 lead over Tennessee. The 42-point margin has been matched two other times — by Green Bay once morest Chicago in 2014 and by the Packers once morest Tampa Bay in 1983.
Likewise, Las Vegas equaled the franchise record for most points in a half game, established in 1969 once morest Buffalo.
The halftime deficit was the worst in Chargers history. They went to rest down 31-0 once morest the Patriots in 1997.
