4 countries nominated to host the 2023 Asian Cup… Get to know them

According to the official statement published by the Asian Football Confederation on Monday, the four countries that have nominated themselves to host the Asian Championship are Qatar, South Korea, Australia and Indonesia, and the file of each applicant country will be studied in the nominations.

The AFC said in an official statement on Monday: “Following the invitation made by the AFC on May 31, 2022, to all member associations, to express their interest in hosting the most important men’s national team championship (in Asia), the following associations, which are members of the Association, responded The Asian Football Confederation, by the deadline extended to 15 July 2022, has expressed its interest in submitting its bids to host the tournament: the Australian Football Association, the Indonesian Football Association, the KFA and the Qatar Football Association.

“According to the candidacy application process, the candidacy rules were distributed to the AFC member associations on June 17, 2022, and the deadline for the submission of candidacy files was set for August 31, 2022,” the statement added.

As for the State of Qatar, which awaits the biggest challenge at the end of this year with its hosting of the first World Cup finals in the Middle East, it has previously hosted the Asian Cup in 1988 (Saudi Arabia won the title at the expense of South Korea) and 2011 (Japan won at the expense of Australia).

As for Qatar’s candidacy, the only Arab bid to host the Asian Cup, the country owns new stadiums and sports facilities that make it an extraordinary candidate to host the major Asian sporting event, especially since hosting will come a few months following hosting a major tournament such as the World Cup for the first time in the East middle.

The Qatari file will be among the strongest on the AFC table, followed by Australia, which is seeking to host the tournament for the second time in its history following the 2015 edition.

The tournament was scheduled to be held in 10 Chinese cities, with the participation of 24 teams, during the period from June 16 to July 16, 2023, but it apologized in mid-May for not hosting it due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.
