4.6 magnitude earthquake hits Ecuador coast without causing damage

This Friday, an earthquake of 4.6 degrees on the Richter scale was recorded off the coast of Ecuador Manabí. So far, no casualties or material damage have been reported as a result of the earthquake.

According to the Geophysical Institute, the quake occurred at 02:07 local time (07:07 GMT) at a latitude of 0.80 degrees south and a longitude of 80.87 degrees west.

According to the source, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 20 kilometers and at a distance of 26.11 kilometers from the city of Manta, one of the main cities in the province of Manabí.

Ecuador is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region that is home to some of the most significant subduction zones in the world and is known for its high seismic activity.

The Belt, which is shaped like a horseshoe, covers several countries in addition to Ecuador, including Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, the United States and Canada.
