A man escaped the brutal attack of a saltwater crocodile by sticking his fingers into the animal’s eyesregarding 4.5 meters, when he was caught while spearfishing in northwestern Australia.
The attack happened around noon on Saturday when the victim was in the water, along with a group of six other people, in a rocky area of Archer Point, near the extreme north of the state of Queensland, rescue services reported in a release.

The man, who according to Australian media is 44 years old, survived the reptile’s attack despite receiving three bites and being dragged to the bottom of the sea by the animal.
The fisherman, who missed shooting a harpoon to scare away the animal, stuck his fingers “multiple times” into the crocodile’s eyes to escape its jawsswim to the shore and climb a rock, according to the Queensland Ambulance statement, published EFE.

The people who accompanied him treated the injuries as an emergency while waiting for the arrival of the emergency services by helicopter, which later transferred the man to a hospital in the city of Cairns, 120 kilometers south of the scene of the attack.
“He is extremely lucky, not many people live to tell such a story”said Valerie Noble, an emergency services paramedic.
The victim ended up with several injuries from the bites and the fracture of several bones, Queensland Ambulance said.
