3rd T20: New Zealand beat Pakistan by 45 runs

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 45 runs in the third T20 International match being played in Dunedin on Wednesday.

At the start of the match, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first, after which New Zealand started batting and set the green shirts a target of 225 runs to win, but the Pakistani team lost seven wickets in the allotted overs. Could only score 179 runs.

Babar Azam scored 58 runs, Mohammad Nawaz scored 28, Mohammad Rizwan scored 24, Fakhar Zaman scored 19, Saim Ayub and Azam Khan scored 10 and 10 runs respectively.

Earlier in New Zealand’s innings, Finn Allen scored 137 runs while batting aggressively, Tim Seifert was second with 31 runs while Glenn Phillips was outstanding with 19 runs.

Pakistan’s Haris Rauf took two wickets while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Zaman Khan, Muhammad Nawaz and Muhammad Wasim Jr took one wicket each.

New Zealand already leads the five-match T20I series, having beaten Pakistan by 46 and 21 runs in the two matches respectively.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi expressed his hope of victory before the match and said that ‘I think we are ready.’

On the other hand, New Zealand’s interim captain Mitchell Santner had hoped for a good score.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been rested due to injury and will not play the remaining matches of the series.

The New Zealand team holds the record of being unbeaten in 15 international matches played at Dunedin University Oval Ground.
