The Italian design and engineering company Italdesign has developed, in partnership with Schindler and Politecnico di Torino, a prototype vehicle called Climb-E, whose codes are between travel and place of residence. Italdesign relied on Stratasys’ 3DFashion platform, consisting of design software and the J850 TechStyle 3D printer, to 3D print on microfiber fabrics, in this case the Alcantara of the seat backs.
« Through its ability to combine transparencies and special color effects, 3DFashion technology can be used to give the impression of both real and virtual color. As the colors can change depending on the lighting and the point of view, it helps to reconcile the different worlds of car design and fashion. says Claudia Gilardi, color and material designer at Italdesign.
