On the Omar Bongo University (UOB) campus, the Room Allocation Commission of the National Center for University Works (CNOU) opened its work on Thursday to consider a first cohort of 350 student files applying for life in the University City. The allocation of rooms follows strict criteria, which the academic and university authorities no longer intend to deviate from, it is reported.
Omar Bongo University, through the National Center for University Works (CNOU), now intends to scrupulously enforce regulatory standards for room allocation. The criteria include the student’s age and enrollment in a university establishment (university or major school); as well as taking into account vulnerable students and those living with disabilities.
“For this first phase, the UOB is providing 446 rooms spread across two pavilions. These rooms are intended to offer an adequate living environment to students, by taking care of their catering, accommodation, social protection, and by promoting their cultural and sporting development.”said Flavien Hekeella, Deputy Director General of CNOU.
The announced reopening of the Cité universitaire for the very next academic year 2024-2025, is eagerly awaited by students and marks a new chapter for the Omar Bongo University Campus in particular, with the central role of the CNOU in the full development of the student in Cité universitaire.
Catering, accommodation, social protection, as well as cultural and sports support for students are among the missions assigned to the CNOU. This integrated approach aims to offer students optimal living conditions for their academic success, social cohesion and peaceful professional integration.
Closed for more than ten years, the imminent reopening of the Campus of Gabon’s first university marks a significant turning point in the history of UOB, thus offering students an environment conducive to their studies and personal development.
