A 40-year-old man convicted of robbery and murder under the influence of drugs was sentenced to 35 years in prison in the first trial.
On the 6th, the 13th Criminal Settlement Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Chief Judge Lee Sang-joo) sentenced a 42-year-old Korean-Chinese Mr. He was also ordered to attach a location tracking electronic device and complete a drug addiction rehabilitation program for 40 hours following being released from prison.
The court said, “He boldly committed robbery, murder, and assault on unspecified victims following administering drugs.” He also explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, “Severe punishment is inevitable by making an incomprehensible excuse that it was done by the Bodhisattva Gwanseyin without repenting of the wrongdoing.”
The court added, however, that there were extenuating circumstances, such as the fact that the accused had no history of criminal punishment and had psychotic abnormalities.
Person A is accused of beating an old man in his 60s while taking methamphetamine in front of a park in Guro-gu around 6 am on May 11 this year, stealing money, and beating him with a road boundary stone. He is also accused of assaulting an 80-year-old man who was picking up junk while dragging a truck near the scene while he fled immediately following the crime.
At the decision trial held last month, the prosecution requested the court to sentence A to life in prison.
