343 Industries talks about their 2022 roadmap for Halo Infinite, co-op and forge for late summer

Almost six months following its release, it cannot be said that the content of Halo Infinite lived up to expectations. Between the lack of content and the disappointing pace of new features, many players were disappointed. As the second season is regarding to begin, the 343 Industries teams wanted to unveil their 2022 roadmap for the latest installment in the saga. Halo. With an assumed priority: the physical and mental well-being of employees with a balance between personal and professional life.

Regular improvements

Outside of the cycle of seasons, 343 wants to make improvements regularly, in order to improve the in-game experience. The studio explains that they will deploy Drop Pods, when the new seasons arrive and during them. The team is aiming for one update per month, with various additions and fixes as needed at the time.

A season 2 also extended, season 3 in November

While the first season had been extended by three months, it will be the same with season two. This will take place from May 3, 2022 until November 7. with a new Battle Pass. In addition to corrections made following player feedback, it should bring many more new features than the first, with already two new maps and game modes previously presented by 343 Industries.

We also learn of the arrival of two new story events :

  • Interference – from May 3 to 16
  • Alpha Pack – from July 19 to August 1

The Fractures will also be back! That of season two will be called Fracture: Entrenched and will unlock brand new armor. The first week of Fracture will take place between May 24 and May 30, 2022.

An improved campaign

If the players were able to discover the open world of the Hello Zeta, many of them would have liked to relive certain moments of the adventure. The surprise was total not to see a level selection screen, which forces everyone to start the story from scratch to relive certain missions and collect certain collectibles from the first levels. Good news, the studio wants to bring this feature and is aiming for a release for the end of August.

A major element was also missing for the story part: co-operation. This has made many players cringe who refuse to play Halo Infinite only. If it was to arrive at the beginning of season two before being postponed, the teams of 343 Industries indicate that co-op mode in line should also arrive at the end of August.

La Forge is coming this year… in beta!

The Forge is a central element for the community Halo. This tool allows you to create completely personalized maps using a powerful content editor provided by the game. This allows players to offer elements that are completely different from the existing one, sometimes with huge success with everyone. This integral part of the experience missed the launch of the game and is sorely missed by players. If the development is not yet finished, the studio has already carried out several test sessions with a limited number of people. But that will change in the coming months.

Instead of focusing on a regular flight test program, 343 Industries wants to offer its Forge mode in open beta in order to give access to the tools to as many people as quickly as possible. Thus, this feature will be improved over time with feedback from the community. At present, the studio is aiming for the arrival of the Forge in this format from September 2022.

And following ?

While season three will arrive in November, the studio has already planned a few things. In addition to the classic season pass, Halo Infinite will be equipped with:

  • Multiple Cards
  • New game modes
  • An Unprecedented Fracture
  • Narrative events
  • New items in the sandbox

The Forge will also continue its evolution in beta mode, while the studio is (finally) aiming for the arrival of split-screen cooperation during this third season.
