32,000 kilometers for an Upper Austrian league game

Mom Maria and dad Tom spared no expense or effort to see their son Marko Jadric play football: The 19-year-old has been playing for the Upper Austrian league team Micheldorf since last winter – and it was at the most recent home game against Ostermiething (2:2). finally got to the point where his parents could see him for the first time in Kremstal. “I was overjoyed. I talk to my parents on the phone at least twice a day,” says Jadric.

Micheldorf is more than 16,000 kilometers away from his home: the offensive player grew up in the Australian capital Canberra. He has found a second home in Kremstal: “You learn to become independent. Micheldorf is great, the fans and teammates are all nice and supportive. It feels very homely. I enjoy being in the mountains and in nature.”

Despite his young age, Jadric has moved around a lot and has already played in Croatia and Slovenia. “I like Austria, it’s my favorite country I’ve lived in so far.”

Dream of professional football

How did the transfer to Austria come about? “Luca and Robin Mayr-Fälten, who also play in Micheldorf, are friends of mine. I contacted them to see if I could train with them to see what it was like in Austria. In the end I stayed in Micheldorf.”

His main goal remains unchanged with the Green-Whites: “My goal as a footballer is to become a professional. Unfortunately, I’ve had to accept a lot of setbacks in recent years due to injuries, but I’m still working on my dream.”

In any case, he has already left a lasting impression in Micheldorf – and who knows, maybe his parents will soon be on their next trip around the world if they manage to move to a higher league…
