31 Covid deaths in one week in Switzerland, 22,730 cases

There have been just over 4 deaths and some 3250 cases per day during the past week. The pandemic continues to decline.

The Jura has the lowest incidence in French-speaking Switzerland, with 373 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past 14 days. Swiss average: 558.

22,730 new people tested positive in one week, 33 additional hospitalizations and 31 new deaths recorded in Switzerland and Liechtenstein: this is the assessment of the pandemic according to data from the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP) communicated on Tuesday . According to these weekly figures, there have therefore been some 3,250 cases and some 48 hospitalizations and just over 4 deaths per day during the past week. The previous week, from April 13 to 19, there had been more cases: around 4,000 per day.

In the past seven days, 101,688 tests have been carried out. The PCR test positivity rate is 30.5% (18.1% for rapid antigen tests). The intensive care unit occupancy rate is 70.6%: 8.4% Covid patients and 62.2% non-Covid.

In total, since the start of the pandemic, Switzerland has counted 13,252 deaths, 52,309 hospitalizations and 3,619,590 people who tested positive for coronavirus.

With 558 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (754 last Tuesday), the fourteen-day incidence rate in Switzerland is lower than that of all its neighbors, according to WHO figures: Austria (1,338), Italy (1,415) , Germany (1720) and France (2015).

Switzerland now has 69.1% of its population fully vaccinated and 1% partially. 42.9% of the population received a booster dose. This proportion is 77.3% among those aged 65 and over.
