On a relatively cool summer afternoon, GKS Katowice faced Zagłębie Lubin away in the 7th round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa matches. The Katowice team entered the match with one change in the line-up, with Marcin Wasielewski replacing the injured Alan Czerwiński. In the first half, GKS Katowice had an advantage. Already in the 4th minute, Adam Zrel’ák passed to Adrian Błąd and his shot was blocked by Aleks Ławniczak with his back. In the 14th minute, Wasielewski threw a throw-in into the penalty area. The ball fell on Lukas Klemenz’s head, but Dominik Hładun stopped him. A moment later, Märten Kuusk and Arkadiusz Jędrych threatened Zagłębie’s goal. The opponents first created a threat in front of our goal in the 22nd minute. After a shot from 16 meters, the ball bounced off one of our players, but Dawid Kudła managed to throw it over the crossbar.

The next situations occurred towards the end of the first half. In the 39th minute, Zrel’ák ran into the penalty area, but the defender managed to block his attempt at the last moment. Zagłębie responded with a three-on-two counter, which fortunately the GieKSa defense managed to neutralize. Before the final whistle, Bartosz Nowak played a corner kick to Grzegorz Rogala standing 20 meters away, but his powerful shot flew over the crossbar. A moment later, referee Wojciech Myć blew the whistle for the end of the first half. So for the next 45 minutes, the teams returned with a goalless draw.

The visitors started the second half better. In the 51st minute, Zagłębie interrupted Rogala’s dangerous pass after a move on the left side, and a moment later Klemenz almost controlled the ball in the penalty area. A moment later, Błąd started an individual action. His shot flew centimeters past Hładun’s goal post. In the 60th minute, Rogala sent a bomb over the crossbar after a cross by Wasielewski. In the 71st minute, we made our first substitution. Borja Galán replaced Bartosz Nowak. In the 73rd minute, Zrel’ák ran into the opponent’s penalty area, but his delicate shot did not surprise Hładun. A moment later, Galán tried from 25 meters, but Hładun punched it out. Unfortunately, in the 87th minute, Hubert Adamczyk took advantage of the confusion in the penalty area and gave the hosts the lead. The result did not change.
