Last minute tickets at knockdown prices for the August holidays. On Monday and Tuesday, the SNCF is selling 300,000 TGV Inoui and Intercités tickets at prices of 29, 39 or 49 euros, for trips scheduled from August 1 to 31 inclusive, reports The Parisian. A wide choice of destinations throughout France is offered. For 1 euro more, it is even possible to have access to first class tickets.

Two days of flash sale

“The vast majority will be at 29 and 39 euros. We want to allow those who book at the last minute to be able to travel by train. We know that not everyone can plan their vacations several months in advance and benefit from the best prices when sales open, ”explained Alain Krakovitch, the general manager of Voyages SNCF, to our colleagues.

In detail, the SNCF specified on its website prices for certain destinations. Nancy and Lille are accessible for 29 euros, Lyon, Grenoble or La Rochelle for 39 euros and Marseille for 49 euros. To take advantage of it, all you have to do is buy your August ticket before tomorrow, within the limit of the 300,000 tickets available.

Several initiatives to fill the wagons

At the same time, the SNCF also announced on July 17 that it was offering a voucher of 10 euros to the million holders of the Avantage Jeune card. It is valid for a TGV Inoui or Intercités until September 30, for a journey to be made no later than December 9. In addition, the exceptional sale of 200,000 Intercités tickets at 19 euros for a one-way ticket, initially scheduled until July 15, has been extended until August 31.

These initiatives during the holiday period would be an opportunity for the SNCF to fill its wagons, while 70% of the tickets would still be available for the month of August, including a large number in first class. These offers might also improve the image of the brand, regularly accused of charging too high prices compared to those of the plane.
