300 Tennis Players Compete for IMTC Cup-Secretary General of Defense II

AS MANY AS 300 tennis players from 75 regions competed to be the best in the IMTC-Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense II Junior Tennis Championship, 14-18 August 2024, at the Ministry of Defense Cawang Tennis Court, East Jakarta.

“The great enthusiasm of participants in the IMTC (Irawati Moerid Tennis Competition) Junior Tennis National Championship – Secretary General of the Ministry of Human Rights II. This is a good sign for Indonesian tennis to remain a strong tennis country in the ASEAN region,” said Tournament Director and event initiator, Irawati Moerid, Thursday (15/8).

According to Irawati, the IMTC-Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense II Junior Tennis Championship event has been included in the TDP (a tournament recognized by Pelti), so that top junior tennis players can take part to get points so that their rankings become stronger.

“From all the islands sent their representatives to this National Championship,” said Irawati. “The furthest participants are from Aceh, Banjarmasin, Tondano and Papua,” continued the former tennis player who when she was still active was quite anticipated for her appearance because she was always attractive on the field.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, Air Marshal TNI (ret.) Donny Ermawan Taufanto, said he was pleased to continue the collaboration entering its second year with the Irawati Moerid Tennis Competition (IMTC) to hold the Junior National Championship.

“IMTC is consistent in fostering achievements, especially Junior,” said Donny. “We also want to produce a golden generation to make Indonesia proud. Coincidentally, I also inaugurated the Club House that we have completed so that it can be used for national championships and tennis enthusiasts,” continued Donny.

IMTC has held 23 Junior TDP Tournaments and five Senior TDP tournaments in the past two years.

The opening of the IMTC-Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense II Junior Tennis Championship was directly opened by the General Chairperson of PB Pelti Nurdin Halid.

On this occasion, an exhibition match was also held between Puang Nurdin Halid paired with Indo-German tennis player and European junior champion Etha David Zapp against Donny Ermawan Taufanto who was paired with national number one KU-16 Jackqulynn Zavio Audrey Yoza.

Present at this event were Deputy Chairman of PP Pelti Raffi Achmad, Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia Mochammad Chandra Widya Yudha and echelon officials of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. (Z-6)
